Experience

 

I value public service. As your council member I suggested and helped create our own Civic Support Fund which is a non-profit foundation to help serve our community. Because of the non-profit, the  new library , the dog park as well as the new pedestal clock were possible .

A few of the contributions as Council Member and former mayor include: 

​

• Supported construction of new library.

​

• Supported Construction of new Dog Park. ​

 

• Supported Creation of new Small Dog Section at Dog Park

​​

• Supported additional fire station which is to be constructed by Orange County Fire Authority on their schedule.

​​

• Supported refurbishment phases of City Hall to provide proper work space for employees, to provide safe and suitable environment for residents and to bring the building into compliance with code. 

​​​

• Suggested and supported new pedestal clock to commemorate 250th celebration of our country.

​

• Black History Support: recognized African-Americans who have served in leadership positions in Orange County. Shared African American film contributions. Supported Poetry Jam to promote African American literary contributions

 

• Held meeting with NASA scientist regarding Green House Gases and most productive actions 

​

As mayor, conducted a field trip to South Orange County Waste Water Authority (SOCWA) as part of Earth Week.​​

​

• Traveled to Bay Area to view Delta water issues, visited location of proposed Sites Reservoir as well as Oroville Dam.

• ​

• Representing our City, I serve on the South Orange County Watershed Management Area Executive Committee as well as the Orange County Library Board and I am a Commissioner on the Local Agency Formation Commission  (LAFCO).

 

• In addition, I serve on the Southern  California Association of Governments (SCAG)Transportation Committee .

​

Previously I served six years on Third Mutual Board; three of those years as president and additionally as a director on the GRF Board. 

 

I support use of land for purposes that enrich our lives; including recycling of water, recycling of waste as well as other uses that fulfill health, safety, recreational, and security needs.

 

I support a balanced budget. Our city is in good financial shape and our pension obligations are current.

 

I support environmental issues including health, safety and security issues. 

 

I support public transportation and the continued Community Service Grant Program.

 

I support diversity including ideas, gender, and the acceptance of and respect for differing views. 

​

I understand how the city functions and its relationship to the other entities in our County as well as our State.
