Carol MOORE
Laguna Woods City Council
I value public service and as your councilmember I helped create our own Civic Support Fund which is a non-profit foundation to help serve our community.
As mayor, I offered the following this year:
-
Supported Construction of our new Dog Park.
-
During Black History Month, recognized African-Americans who have served in leadership positions in Orange County.
-
Conducted a field trip to South Orange County Waste Water Authority (SOCWA) as part of Earth Week.
-
Recognized Holocaust Survivors as well as Survivors of the Armenian Genocide.
-
Supported protection of our ocean by opposing off-shore drilling along our California Coast.
Representing our City, I serve on the South Orange County Watershed Management Area Executive Committee as well as the Orange County Library Board and the Community Services Policy Committee for the League of Cities. In addition, I serve on the Southern California Association of Governments Transportation Committee.
Previously I served six years on Third Mutual Board; three of those years as president and additionally as a director on the GRF Board.
I support use of land for purposes that enrich our lives; including recycling of water, recycling of waste as well as other uses that fulfill health, safety, recreational, and security needs.
I support a balanced budget.
I support environmental issues including health, safety and security issues.
I support public transportation and the continued Community Service Grant Program.
I support diversity including ideas, gender, and the acceptance of and respect for differing views.
Working together we can make the changes that are necessary to protect our environment.
BuSINESS EXPERIENCE
and EDUCATiON
Public Service is important to me
As a small business owner of industrial products I learned the importance of budgets and planning. I understand the important role of small business in our economy.
I also taught school, and worked in the advertising department of a large industrial manufacturer.
I am an owner of rental properties and manage same. I am familiar with maintenance issues as well as permits and the role of City oversight.
I enjoy solving problems and I am constantly amazed at the many people in our county who do just that; they volunteer to improve our lives. We have the most sophisticated water delivery system in the world. Maintaining our infrastructure is extremely important and my experience within the industrial sector assists me in understanding the contributions made by the many public servants.

VOLUNTEER and PUBLIC SERVICE EXPERIENCE
I also attend WACO (Water Advisory Committe of Orange County), ISDOC (Independent Special Districts of Orange County), El Toro Water Engineering and Board Meetings, and am aware of many of the challenges which the cities in our county address.
I volunteered in our County Child Support Services in the legal department. I also volunteered at Sherman Library and Gardens and I have delivered Meals-on-Wheels for almost fifteen years. I served on the City of Laguna Woods Water Conservation Committee prior to election to the City Council.
